Dear School Administrator,

We're excited to share that new families may now apply for the Florida Tax Credit (FTC)/Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO) and Family Empowerment for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) programs for the 2023-24 school year.

Step Up For Students has begun notifying families who joined our interest lists that it is time for them to apply. To prevent systems from becoming overloaded, notifications will continue to our interest list families through the rest of the week. The emails will include a link to our EMA page where they will find resources to help them along the way. For families who signed up for our interest list and who have not yet been notified, please ask them to continue to monitor their email.

You may direct new families to the appropriate page below to sign up to receive notifications from us:

  • FTC/FES-EO Interested Families: Click here for English or here for Spanish.
  • FES-UA Interested Families: Click here for English or here for Spanish.

Reminders:

  • A school should not create a student’s EMA account, complete a student's scholarship application, submit documentation, or otherwise act on behalf of the parent/guardian. Doing so may result in the loss of the school’s participation and/or scholarship eligibility and funding for the student.
  • If you have a renewal family who has not completed their renewal application yet, please encourage them to do so. They may visit www.sufs.org/ema for next steps and helpful resources.
  • Please encourage families experiencing trouble linking a renewal student or adding a new student to visit www.sufs.org/get-support for support.
  • Schools should NOT be enrolling students in EMA at this time. Please do not attempt to take any action within the Enrollment section (including the search function) of EMA at this time. Activity within this area could cause future enrollment issues.
    • At this time, Step Up For Students does not have a deadline for applications from renewal or new families. With the application season in full swing, we kindly ask for your patience as we process applications as quickly as possible.
    • PLEASE NOTE: Beginning with the 2023-24 school year, Step Up For Students will no longer be issuing Award Letters. Instead, awarded families will begin receiving Award Notifications in the coming week. Award Notifications will direct families to log into their EMA account where they can find their student's Award ID. The Award ID is all you will need to enroll students within your EMA account when it is time. If a school requires further documentation from a family regarding their student's award, we are advising families to take a screenshot of the page within their EMA account that displays their student's Award ID.
