American Preparatory Academy is a neurodiversity, inclusive school. This means that at this academy, we cater to students who might need reinforcement in specific academic areas or accommodation to fit their learning styles and abilities. We have three possible paths: 1) a path of mainstream education, 2) a path for students who need additional reinforcement and accommodations, or 3) a path for students in a self-contained classroom who receive additional reinforcement (students with a specific diagnosis such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum, and others).

The third path is a classroom that focuses on students whose cognitive abilities are lower and who perform in a self-contained classroom (cluster group), which provides more focus on life skills while developing and meeting the highest possible level of academic work (particularly in English and Maths) that students in this classroom are capable of. Also, the division between levels is not traditional either, students remain within their Elementary, Middle, or High School core groups. They are not necessarily divided by grade level. Instead, students are subdivided into class groups that adapt to aid them in performing in each class to the best of their abilities.

Accredited Private School by The Association of Independent Schools of Florida

American Prep Academy is a fully accredited private School by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF). The Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools recognizes AISF as an accrediting agency for private schools in Florida. AISF is a Charter Member of the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), which serves as a national review panel for the standards and procedures of private school accrediting associations in the United States.

American Preparatory Academy proudly accepts scholarships provided by Step Up for Students. Step Up for Students is a state-approved, nonprofit scholarship-funding organization that empowers families to pursue and engage in the most appropriate learning options for their children.

Notice to parents enrolling students under the FES-UA scholarship: Please note that our school accommodates students with disabilities per the requirements under federal and local law. However, your child may not necessarily receive the types of accommodations or related services that your child may be entitled to receive at a public school as public schools have different obligations under the IDEA. The IDEA does not apply to private schools. We are happy to have a conversation with you about the accommodations that your child may need and be entitled to at our school.
